About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap, gaining experience with store, district, and regional operations. This role focuses on preparing you for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist while supporting the pharmacy team in delivering safe and accurate patient care.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and follow company standard operating procedures at every workstation.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures for production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off to ensure accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Provide empathetic, caring service to patients and assist with medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Perform basic inventory activities, including cycle counts and processing medication deliveries.
- Deliver health care services such as immunizations and point-of-care testing, including monitoring for and responding to adverse reactions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance to an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- One year of related experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Detroit, Michigan.
- This is a part-time, on-site role with a rolling term.
- The pay range for this position is $20.00 to $23.75 per hour.
