About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a training roadmap designed to prepare you for a future role as a pharmacist. You will gain exposure to store, district, and regional operations while assisting the pharmacy team in delivering patient care.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and key learning experiences.
- Assist with pharmacy operations to ensure prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
- Operate pharmacy workstations including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Provide empathetic care to patients and resolve or escalate issues as needed.
- Offer immunizations and other health services where permissible.
- Counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to other pharmacy team members.
- Perform basic inventory activities such as cycle counts and managing medication deliveries.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
What you'll need#
- Acceptance into or active enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Flexibility to work in your home store and travel to other locations within the market.
- One or more years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings is preferred.
