About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will complete a comprehensive training roadmap focused on Key Learning Experiences while gaining an overview of store, district, and regional operations. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist by immersing you in pharmacy workflows and patient care.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Follow company Standard Operating Procedures and pharmacy workflow protocols at every workstation.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and providing compassionate care.
- Offer to counsel and field medical questions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and coordinate with prescribers to clarify orders.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as cycle counts and medication deliveries.
- Deliver health care services including immunizations and point-of-care testing.
- Educate patients about vaccines and monitor for potential adverse reactions.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Flexibility to work at your home store and travel to other locations within the market as needed.
