About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist by providing hands-on experience with store, district, and regional operations. You will support the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and contribute to a safe and inclusive environment.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and key learning experiences.
- Assist the pharmacy team with daily operations, including filling prescriptions promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Follow all company standard operating procedures at each workstation.
- Provide empathetic care to patients at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Perform basic inventory activities, such as putting away deliveries and completing cycle counts.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ethical principles.
- Support immunizations and related services where permissible by law.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Flexibility to work in your home store and travel to other locations in the market.
