About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice while preparing for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist. You will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to provide hands-on experience in pharmacy operations under the direction of a preceptor. This role focuses on supporting pharmacy teams, ensuring accurate prescription fulfillment, and delivering high-quality patient care.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and participate in key learning experiences.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
- Follow company standard operating procedures and pharmacy workflow protocols at every workstation.
- Provide patient care by offering counseling, fielding medical questions, and taking telephonic prescriptions from prescribers.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care during interactions.
- Perform basic inventory activities, such as processing medication deliveries and cycle counts.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Support immunization services, including preparing and administering vaccines where allowable by law.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, professional standards, and ethical principles.
What you'll need#
- Acceptance into or active enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by state regulations.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work in your home store and travel to other locations within the market to meet business needs.
