About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice under the guidance of a preceptor. You will follow a comprehensive training roadmap designed to prepare you for a future Pharmacist role while gaining an overview of pharmacy operations. This position focuses on supporting the pharmacy team to ensure safe, accurate, and prompt prescription fulfillment while developing your professional skills.
What you'll do#
- Follow company standard operating procedures and pharmacy workflow protocols at each workstation.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and care during interactions at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities, including cycle counts and managing medication deliveries.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and company security policies.
- Deliver health care services such as immunizations and point-of-care testing where permitted.
- Complete training and licensure to obtain Technician Immunizer status.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions while documenting patient information.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- 1+ years of work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to work at your home store and travel to other locations within the market to meet business needs.
