About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a training roadmap, gaining experience in store, district, and regional operations. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation to ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Field medical questions, offer to counsel, and solicit patient medical history information.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify details when necessary.
- Complete inventory tasks such as cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and waiting bin inventories.
- Support immunizations by educating patients and monitoring for adverse reactions.
- Assist the pharmacy team with daily operations while maintaining a focus on patient safety and service.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Proficiency in mathematical reasoning for tasks like calculating days of supply or medication quantities.
- Capacity to stand for extended periods and lift up to 20 lbs.
