About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to prepare you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist. This role involves working under the direction of a preceptor to gain an overview of pharmacy operations while supporting the team in delivering patient care.
What you'll do#
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures to ensure prescriptions are filled safely, accurately, and promptly.
- Assist patients by offering to counsel, fielding medical questions under pharmacist supervision, and taking telephonic prescriptions.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and solving patient problems.
- Deliver health care services including immunizations and point-of-care testing, provided you obtain the necessary Technician Immunizer status and training.
- Perform basic inventory activities such as putting away deliveries, completing cycle counts, and managing returns.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks, pivot between duties, and confirm prescription accuracy.
- Capability to identify and resolve challenging patient or colleague interactions.
- Willingness to work at your home store and travel to other locations within the market.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
