About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to prepare you for a future role as a Pharmacist. This position involves working closely with pharmacy teams to support operations, ensure accurate prescription fulfillment, and deliver patient care. You will gain exposure to store, district, and regional operations while developing your clinical and technical skills.
What you'll do#
- Assist pharmacy teams with daily operations, including prescription fulfillment at production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off stations.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safe and accurate service.
- Counsel patients and field medical questions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Perform basic inventory tasks such as cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and processing medication deliveries.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to other team members.
- Deliver health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law and supported by certification.
- Maintain patient privacy and security in all interactions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Ability to maintain intern or technician immunization status.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to concentrate on tasks for extended periods.
- Proficiency in verbal and written communication, including active listening.
- Mathematical reasoning skills for calculating dosages and supply needs.
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs and remain mobile for extended periods.
- 1+ years of experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
- Flexibility to work in your home store and travel to other locations within the market is preferred.
