About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a training roadmap, gaining hands-on experience with store, district, and regional operations. This role focuses on developing your clinical and technical skills to prepare you for a future Pharmacist position.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and follow company SOPs at every workstation.
- Perform pharmacy workflow procedures, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off, to ensure safe prescription fulfillment.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by providing empathy, care, and assistance over the phone or in person.
- Offer counseling, field medical questions, and take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members while sharing best practices.
- Handle basic inventory activities, such as putting away medication deliveries and completing cycle counts.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
- Educate patients on vaccines, monitor for adverse reactions, and document patient information.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, privacy regulations, and company policies.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to work at your home store and travel to other locations within the market as needed.
