About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role focuses on gaining hands-on experience with pharmacy operations while preparing for future responsibilities as a pharmacist. You will support the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and patients receive accurate, safe care.
What you'll do#
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Ensure prescriptions are filled accurately and promptly.
- Offer immunizations and other health services, including preparing and administering vaccines where permitted.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions.
- Counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete inventory tasks such as cycle counts and processing medication deliveries.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws and company policies.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks and pivot quickly between responsibilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to perform math to solve prescription-related problems.
- Capability to become immunization certified.
- Willingness to work at your home store and travel to other locations within the market.
