About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role focuses on supporting pharmacy operations, ensuring safe and accurate prescription fulfillment, and developing the skills necessary to transition into a Pharmacist role. You will gain exposure to store, district, and regional operations while contributing to a team environment.
What you'll do#
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Support pharmacists and technicians in managing and improving patient health.
- Offer to counsel and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and clarify details with prescribers.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as processing medication deliveries and cycle counts.
- Deliver health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
- Complete Technician Immunizer training and licensure to assist with vaccine administration.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions, ensuring all documentation meets public health requirements.
- Contribute to a high-performing team by remaining flexible with scheduling and traveling to other locations in the market as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Possession of, or the process of obtaining, valid intern or technician licensure as required by the state.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 20 lbs.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to use math to solve prescription-related problems.
