About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a training roadmap designed to prepare you for a future role as a pharmacist. This position involves gaining experience across pharmacy operations while supporting our pharmacy teams in delivering patient care.
What you'll do#
- Follow company standard operating procedures and workflow at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Assist pharmacists and technicians with prescription fulfillment to ensure safety and accuracy.
- Provide caring service to patients, including offering counseling and fielding medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Deliver patient health care services, such as immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
- Obtain Technician Immunizer status and educate patients on the importance of vaccines.
- Complete basic inventory activities, including cycle counts, returns, and putting away deliveries.
- Provide coaching and training to pharmacy team members.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws and company policies regarding patient privacy and safety.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to work in your home store and travel to other locations within the market.
- One year of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
