About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role focuses on preparing you for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist while supporting the daily operations of the pharmacy team.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled accurately.
- Complete a training roadmap focused on Key Learning Experiences.
- Maintain workflow procedures at workstations including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Offer to counsel, field medical questions, and solicit information on a patient’s medical history.
- Support immunizations by educating patients and administering vaccines where permitted by law.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and clarify medication details with prescribers.
- Perform inventory tasks such as putting away deliveries and completing cycle counts.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Flexibility to work nights and weekends as needed.
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs and remain mobile for extended periods.
