About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist by providing hands-on experience in store, district, and regional operations. You will assist the pharmacy team in maintaining smooth operations and ensuring patient prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and follow pharmacy workflow procedures for prescription fulfillment.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and care.
- Offer to counsel and field medical questions under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities such as cycle counts and processing medication deliveries.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws along with company policies.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing.
- Educate patients about the importance of vaccines and monitor for adverse reactions.
What you'll need#
- Acceptance into, or active enrollment in, an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service (preferred).
- Ability to become immunization certified (preferred).
- Ability to work in your home store and travel to other locations in the market (preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint (preferred).
