About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice while preparing for a future Pharmacist role. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This program provides an overview of store, district, and regional operations through Key Learning Experiences and direct collaboration with pharmacy leaders.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and required training within designated timeframes.
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations to ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by offering empathetic care, fielding medical questions, and providing counseling under supervision.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and training to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities, including cycle counts and returns.
- Deliver additional health services such as immunizations and point-of-care testing where allowable by law.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, as well as company policies regarding patient privacy and safety.
What you'll need#
- Acceptance into, or active enrollment in, an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Flexibility to work in your home store and travel to other locations across the market to meet business needs.
