About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to prepare you for a future role as a Pharmacist. You will gain hands-on experience with store, district, and regional operations while supporting the pharmacy team in delivering care to patients.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and key learning experiences.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Provide caring service to patients at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone.
- Follow standard operating procedures at every workstation.
- Offer to counsel and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and facilitate medication changes.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as cycle counts and putting away deliveries.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where allowed by law.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to complete required training within a designated timeframe.
- Strong attention to detail and focus.
- Customer service and team orientation.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Mathematical reasoning abilities for prescription dispensing.
- Ability to identify and resolve problems.
- Ability to remain mobile for extended periods and lift up to 20 lbs.
