About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to prepare you for a future role as a Pharmacist. This position involves working under the direction of a preceptor to gain experience in pharmacy operations, store, district, and regional workflows. You will contribute to a safe and inclusive culture while developing your clinical and technical skills.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and key learning experiences.
- Assist the pharmacy team with prescription fulfillment to ensure accuracy and safety.
- Follow standard operating procedures and best practices for pharmacy workflow.
- Provide caring service to patients at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone.
- Offer immunizations and other services where permitted and qualified.
- Counsel patients and collect medical history information under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication changes.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities such as cycle counts and restocking.
- Educate patients about vaccines and monitor for potential adverse reactions.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, as well as company policies.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to maintain regular, predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Proficiency in active listening, verbal, and written communication.
- Mathematical reasoning skills for prescription calculations.
- Ability to remain mobile and upright for extended periods.
- Capacity to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally.
- Ability to perform repetitive finger movements and reach overhead.
- Close visual acuity for reading labels and computer terminals.
- Strong problem resolution skills and the ability to pivot between tasks.
