About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist by providing an overview of store, district, and regional operations. You will support the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and consistently deliver on our brand promise.
What you'll do#
- Ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Provide caring service that exceeds patient expectations.
- Apply Standard Operating Procedures and best practices in all pharmacy workstations.
- Demonstrate empathy and genuine care in all patient and colleague interactions.
- Offer to counsel, field medical questions, and solicit information on medical history.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities such as cycle counts and putting away deliveries.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing.
- Support immunization efforts by preparing and administering vaccines where permitted.
What you'll need#
- Acceptance into or active enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by the state.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks and pivot quickly to meet patient needs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Mathematical reasoning skills for calculating dosages and supply needs.
- Ability to remain mobile and upright for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally.
- Preferred: 1+ years of experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service.
- Preferred: Ability to become immunization certified.
- Preferred: Ability to work in your home store and travel to other locations in the market.
- Preferred: Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
