About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist by providing hands-on experience with store, district, and regional operations. You will assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and patients receive safe, accurate, and prompt service.
What you'll do#
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Fill prescriptions accurately and safely while adhering to company SOPs.
- Provide caring service to patients, including offering counseling and fielding medical questions.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Support immunization services by preparing and administering vaccines, educating patients, and monitoring for adverse reactions.
- Assist with basic inventory tasks such as cycle counts, returns, and putting away deliveries.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and support to pharmacy team members.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure or be in the process of obtaining one.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Strong attention to detail, mathematical reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks and pivot between responsibilities quickly.
- Physical ability to remain upright for extended periods, reach overhead, and lift up to 20 lbs.
- Flexibility to work in your home store and travel to other locations across the market.
