About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. Working under the direction of a preceptor, you will follow a training roadmap to gain experience in store, district, and regional operations. You will support the pharmacy team to ensure operations run safely and accurately while developing your skills for future pharmacist responsibilities.
What you'll do#
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures for prescription fulfillment at all workstations.
- Provide patient care by offering immunizations, point-of-care testing, and fielding medical questions under supervision.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Perform inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and processing deliveries.
- Coach and mentor pharmacy team members while sharing best practices.
- Educate patients on vaccine importance and monitor for adverse reactions.
- Travel to different store locations within the market to work shifts as needed.
- Comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical principles regarding patient privacy and safety.
- Complete required training and licensure, including obtaining Technician Immunizer status.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by state regulations.
- Ability to maintain regular, predictable attendance including nights and weekends.
- Strong active listening skills and mathematical reasoning ability.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks for extended periods and pivot quickly between duties.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
- 1+ years of experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
