About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a training roadmap, gaining experience in store, district, and regional operations. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist by focusing on patient health, operational safety, and team collaboration.
What you'll do#
- Follow company standard operating procedures to help pharmacists and technicians improve patient health.
- Manage pharmacy workflow at workstations including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off to ensure accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Provide empathetic care to patients, including fielding medical questions and offering counseling under pharmacist supervision.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Perform inventory activities like cycle counts, returns, and putting away deliveries.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Deliver health services such as immunizations and point-of-care testing, contingent on completing required training and licensure.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws and company policies regarding patient privacy and safety.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to work in your home store and travel to other locations across the market.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- 1+ years of experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service is preferred.
