About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school learning into real-world practice to prepare for a future Pharmacist role. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a training roadmap that provides an overview of store, district, and regional operations. You will assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly while prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
What you'll do#
- Follow company standard operating procedures and pharmacy workflow processes at all workstations.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by offering immunizations, answering medical questions, and soliciting medical history.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and call to clarify or facilitate medication changes.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete inventory activities, such as cycle counts and processing medication deliveries.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
- Educate patients on vaccines, monitor for adverse reactions, and document patient information.
- Maintain flexibility for scheduling and travel to other stores within the market as needed.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Ability to work a schedule that includes nights and weekends.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Strong verbal and written communication, active listening, and mathematical reasoning skills.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks, pivot quickly between duties, and confirm prescription accuracy.
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs and remain mobile for extended periods.
