About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice while preparing for a future role as a pharmacist. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This program provides an overview of store, district, and regional operations. You will assist the pharmacy team in delivering care and ensuring that our brand promise is met every day.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences and activities.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Follow standard operating procedures and pharmacy workflow at all workstations.
- Provide caring service and contribute to positive patient experiences by demonstrating empathy.
- Counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and clarify details with prescribers.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to team members.
- Perform basic inventory activities, such as cycle counts, deliveries, and returns.
- Offer immunizations and other health services, including monitoring for adverse reactions and documenting patient information.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
What you'll need#
- Acceptance into or active enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks for extended periods and pivot quickly between responsibilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to use active listening.
- Mathematical reasoning skills to solve problems like calculating dosage and days supply.
- Ability to identify and resolve challenging patient or colleague interactions.
- Willingness to work in your home store and travel to other locations across the market.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
