About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This program includes Key Learning Experiences, activities, and time spent with district leaders to prepare you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations to ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Provide caring service to patients, including fielding medical questions and offering counseling under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Deliver patient health care services such as immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
- Complete additional training and licensure requirements to obtain Technician Immunizer status.
- Perform basic inventory tasks like cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and processing medication deliveries.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members to share best practices.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, ethical principles, and company policies to maintain patient safety and privacy.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited pharmacy school.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of related experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, and travel to other store locations within the market as needed.
