About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will bridge the gap between your pharmacy school education and real-world practice. Under the guidance of a preceptor, you will complete a training roadmap focused on Key Learning Experiences to prepare for a future Pharmacist role. You will gain exposure to store, district, and regional operations while contributing to a safe and inclusive team environment.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap focused on Key Learning Experiences.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Provide caring service to patients, including handling phone inquiries and solving patient problems.
- Offer to counsel and field medical questions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and clarify details with prescribers where allowed by state regulation.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching to team members and share best practices.
- Perform basic inventory tasks like cycle counts, returns, and putting away deliveries.
- Support immunizations by educating patients and, once Technician Immunizer status is obtained, preparing and administering vaccines.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Prior experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
