About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice while preparing for a future Pharmacist role. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap, gaining experience in store, district, and regional operations. This role focuses on supporting pharmacy teams to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient service.
What you'll do#
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures for prescription fulfillment at production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off stations.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled promptly and accurately.
- Offer to counsel and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members while sharing best practices.
- Complete inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and processing medication deliveries.
- Deliver patient health services, including point-of-care testing and immunizations, where permitted by law.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions and document health information.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, professional standards, and company policies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- At least 1 year of work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Flexibility to work in your home store and travel to other market locations to meet business needs.
