About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap, gaining experience in store, district, and regional operations. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist while supporting the daily needs of the pharmacy team.
What you'll do#
- Complete a structured training roadmap including Key Learning Experiences and time with district leadership.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly, safely, and accurately.
- Follow all company standard operating procedures at every workstation, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Provide patient care by offering immunizations, point-of-care testing, and fielding medical questions under pharmacist supervision.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Perform inventory tasks such as cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and processing medication deliveries.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members as your tenure increases.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions, documenting events as required.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or the process of obtaining one.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 20 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks.
- 1+ years of experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
- Ability to travel to other locations within the market to support business needs is preferred.
