About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to prepare you for a future role as a Pharmacist. This program provides an overview of store, district, and regional operations while you support the pharmacy team in delivering safe and accurate care to patients.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences and activities.
- Assist the pharmacy team with prescription fulfillment following standard operating procedures.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by offering caring service at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone.
- Offer to counsel and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Perform basic inventory activities, such as cycle counts and putting away medication deliveries.
- Deliver health care services, such as immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions, reporting events as required.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service.
- Ability to complete training within the designated timeframe.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Strong focus and attention to detail, including the ability to confirm prescription accuracy.
- Mathematical skills for tasks like calculating medication supply and quantities.
- Ability to communicate effectively and use active listening with patients and colleagues.
- Physical ability to remain upright for extended periods and lift up to 20 lbs.

- Work Modality: On-site.
- Employment Type: Part-time.
- Schedule: Rolling term, including nights and weekends.
- Flexibility: Ability to work in your home store and travel to other locations across the market as needed.
