About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a training roadmap, gaining experience in store, district, and regional operations. This role focuses on preparing you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist while supporting the pharmacy team in delivering safe, accurate, and caring service.
What you'll do#
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations to ensure safe prescription fulfillment.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and care during interactions at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and clarify details with prescribers.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as processing medication deliveries and cycle counts.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
- Support immunization efforts by acting as a Technician Immunizer, which includes educating patients and documenting information.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Ability to maintain a flexible schedule and travel to other stores in the market as needed.
- 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
