About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist by providing an overview of store, district, and regional operations. You will support the pharmacy team to ensure prescriptions are filled safely and accurately while delivering caring service to patients.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and follow company SOPs at each workstation.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures for production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care.
- Offer to counsel, field medical questions, and solicit medical history when appropriate.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities such as putting away deliveries and cycle counts.
- Support immunizations and patient health services where permissible by law.
What you'll need#
- Must be accepted into or actively enrolled in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Must possess or be in the process of obtaining valid intern or technician licensure as required.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Capacity to stand for extended periods and lift up to 20 lbs.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to maintain focus in a busy environment.
