About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role provides an overview of store, district, and regional operations while preparing you for a future Pharmacist role.
What you'll do#
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation to ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Assist the pharmacy team with daily operations and contribute to an inclusive team environment.
- Offer to counsel patients, field medical questions, and collect medical history information under supervision.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as cycle counts and putting away deliveries.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Educate patients about vaccines and support immunization services where permissible by law.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ethical principles.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Ability to maintain regular, predictable attendance including nights and weekends.
- Capacity to complete required training within the designated timeframe.
- 1+ years of experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
- Willingness to work in your home store and travel to other locations in the market as needed is preferred.

- This position is located in Urbandale, Iowa.
- The role is on-site and part-time.
- This is a paid internship with a rolling term.
