About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will follow a comprehensive training roadmap designed to help you prepare for a future role as a pharmacist. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will gain hands-on experience by assisting the pharmacy team with daily operations, patient care, and inventory management.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and follow pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations.
- Ensure patient prescriptions are filled accurately, safely, and promptly.
- Follow company SOPs and all relevant federal, state, and local laws.
- Provide empathetic patient care, including fielding medical questions and soliciting medical history.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication changes.
- Perform inventory tasks such as cycle counts, returns, and putting away deliveries.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete Technician Immunizer status requirements to educate patients on vaccines and monitor for adverse reactions.
- Remain flexible with scheduling and travel to other store locations within the market as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Strong attention to detail to confirm prescription information and label accuracy.
- Ability to pivot quickly between tasks to meet business and patient needs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Strong verbal communication and active listening skills.
- Mathematical reasoning skills to calculate dosages and supply needs.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
