About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice while preparing for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist. You will complete a comprehensive training roadmap that includes Key Learning Experiences and time spent with district leadership. This role focuses on supporting pharmacy operations and delivering patient care under the direction of a preceptor.
What you'll do#
- Support pharmacy teams to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Follow company standard operating procedures across all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Provide caring service to patients and assist with medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Complete basic inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and processing medication deliveries.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
- Support immunization efforts by preparing and administering vaccines as a Technician Immunizer.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to other pharmacy team members.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ethical principles.
What you'll need#
- Acceptance into or active enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by the state.
- Ability to maintain regular, predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
