About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will follow a comprehensive training roadmap designed to prepare you for a future role as a Pharmacist. This position provides an overview of store, district, and regional operations while you assist the pharmacy team in delivering patient care.
What you'll do#
- Complete a structured training roadmap and key learning experiences.
- Ensure pharmacy operations run smoothly by following company SOPs and workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Fill prescriptions accurately and promptly while maintaining a safe environment.
- Provide patient care by offering counseling, fielding medical questions, and soliciting medical history under the direction of a pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Perform inventory tasks such as cycle counts, returns, and putting away deliveries.
- Deliver health services including immunizations and point-of-care testing, subject to training and licensure.
- Educate patients on vaccines, monitor for adverse reactions, and document patient information.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Travel to other stores within the market to work shifts as business needs require.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work in your home store and travel to other locations in the market.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 20 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks.
