About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a training roadmap, gaining experience in store, district, and regional operations. This role focuses on developing your clinical and technical skills to prepare for future responsibilities as a pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations to ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Assist the pharmacy team with operations and contribute to positive patient experiences through empathetic care.
- Offer to counsel patients, field medical questions, and take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers under pharmacist supervision.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as cycle counts and managing medication deliveries.
- Deliver health care services, including immunizations, point-of-care testing, and staffing offsite clinics where permitted.
- Educate patients on vaccines, monitor for adverse reactions, and document patient information.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by state regulations.
- 1+ years of experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to work in your home store and travel to other locations within the market.
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Strong focus, mathematical reasoning, and the ability to pivot between tasks quickly.
