About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences, to prepare for a future Pharmacist role. This position involves working under the direction of a preceptor to gain experience in pharmacy operations while supporting the team in delivering high-quality patient care.
What you'll do#
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and care.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete inventory activities such as putting away deliveries and cycle counts.
- Support immunizations, point-of-care testing, and offsite clinics, including educating patients on vaccines and monitoring for adverse reactions.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws and ethical principles.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Strong attention to detail, including the ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks, pivot quickly between responsibilities, and use math to solve dispensing problems.
- Effective communication skills, including active listening and the ability to handle challenging patient or colleague interactions.
- Physical ability to remain upright for extended periods, reach overhead, stoop, and lift up to 20 lbs.
