About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. Under the guidance of a preceptor, you will complete a training roadmap designed to prepare you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist. You will gain exposure to store, district, and regional operations while supporting the pharmacy team in delivering safe and accurate care to patients.
What you'll do#
- Support pharmacy teams with prescription fulfillment and workflow procedures including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and key learning experiences.
- Offer to counsel and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to other pharmacy team members.
- Perform basic inventory tasks such as processing deliveries, cycle counts, and returns.
- Deliver patient care services including immunizations and point-of-care testing.
- Educate patients on vaccines and monitor for potential adverse reactions.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and company policies.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of work experience in a pharmacy, medical, retail, or customer service setting.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Flexibility to work at your home store and travel to other locations in the market as needed.
