About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. Under the guidance of a preceptor, you will complete a training roadmap focused on Key Learning Experiences to prepare for future responsibilities as a pharmacist. You will gain exposure to store, district, and regional operations while assisting the pharmacy team with safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
What you'll do#
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and care during interactions.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and facilitate medication changes with prescribers.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and training to team members.
- Complete inventory activities such as cycle counts and returns.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Deliver health services including immunizations and point-of-care testing.
- Educate patients about vaccines and monitor for potential adverse reactions.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Ability to maintain regular, predictable attendance including nights and weekends.
- Completion of all required training within the designated timeframe.
- At least 1 year of experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Willingness to work at your home store and travel to other locations across the market.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
