About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will bridge the gap between your pharmacy school education and real-world clinical practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap, gaining hands-on experience with pharmacy operations at the store, district, and regional levels. This role focuses on developing your professional skills while supporting our pharmacy teams in delivering consistent, high-quality patient care.
What you'll do#
- Support pharmacy operations to ensure prescriptions are filled safely, accurately, and promptly.
- Follow company standard operating procedures and workflow protocols at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Provide empathetic patient service, including fielding medical questions and offering counseling under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and assist with medication clarifications.
- Perform inventory tasks such as cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and processing medication deliveries.
- Support immunization services by preparing and administering vaccines, educating patients, and monitoring for adverse reactions.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members to share best practices.
- Comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical principles regarding patient privacy and controlled substance dispensing.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
- At least 1 year of related experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
- Flexibility to work at your home store and travel to other locations within the market as needed.
