About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for foreign pharmacy graduates seeking to complete required US internship hours. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to apply your clinical knowledge in a real-world setting. The program is designed to prepare you for a Pharmacist role by developing your pharmacy practice skills and business acumen. You are expected to complete your internship within 18 months.
What you'll do#
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at workstations including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off to ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Complete inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and processing medication deliveries.
- Educate patients about vaccines and support technician immunizer activities, including preparing and administering vaccines where permitted.
- Assist the pharmacy team in daily operations while following standard operating procedures.
What you'll need#
- Graduation from a non-US accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- FPGEC certification.
- Valid intern or technician licensure.
- Readiness to pass all required Pharmacist licensure exams within 120 days of completing your internship hours.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 20 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks like typing and reaching.
