About the role#
This is a full-time, on-site internship for foreign pharmacy graduates looking to complete their required US internship hours. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to gain hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting. The program is designed to prepare you for pharmacist licensure exams, with a requirement to complete your internship within 18 months and obtain state licensure within 120 days of finishing your hours.
What you'll do#
- Ensure a safe and effective pharmacy environment while maintaining HIPAA standards.
- Process prescriptions, including translation of SIG codes, product selection, counting, labeling, and resolving third-party rejections.
- Deliver health care services such as point-of-care testing and immunizations once state regulations are met.
- Counsel patients under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Greet customers, perform register transactions, and assist with questions or concerns.
- Support the pharmacy manager in motivating staff, identifying business growth opportunities, and coordinating training for support staff.
- Maintain inventory management policies and participate in store operational meetings.
What you'll need#
- A High School Diploma or GED and a Doctorate (PharmD) or equivalent degree from a non-US accredited school of pharmacy.
- An active Pharmacy Intern license in the state where the district is located.
- Strong communication, presentation, and active listening skills.
- Proficiency in time management, emotional intelligence, and digital literacy.
- Ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs of force occasionally and 10 lbs frequently.
- Availability to work a schedule that includes nights and weekends.
- Eligibility to immunize is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
