About the role#
This internship program is designed for foreign pharmacy graduates to complete their required US internship hours. You will apply your academic knowledge to real-world practice while preparing for a career as a licensed pharmacist. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a structured learning plan. The program requires completion of all internship hours within 18 months, with the goal of obtaining pharmacist licensure in the state of practice within 120 days of finishing those hours.
What you'll do#
- Follow company standard operating procedures at each pharmacy workstation, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
- Provide caring service and contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy.
- Solve or escalate patient problems and offer to counsel or field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Perform basic inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and processing medication deliveries.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Support immunizations as a technician immunizer, including patient education and documentation, where permitted by state law.
- Travel to other stores in the market as needed to work shifts.
What you'll need#
- Graduation from a non-US accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- FPGEC certification.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to obtain pharmacist licensure in the state of practice within 120 days of completing internship hours.
- 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
