About the role#
This position is designed for foreign-trained pharmacists to complete their required US internship hours. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to gain hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting. The goal is to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to pass required licensure exams and transition into a pharmacist role. You are expected to complete your internship within 18 months and obtain state licensure within 120 days of finishing your hours.
What you'll do#
- Ensure a safe and effective pharmacy environment while maintaining patient confidentiality and regulatory compliance.
- Process prescriptions, including translating SIG codes, labeling, and resolving third-party rejections.
- Assist with inventory management, including stocking and organizing drug orders.
- Provide patient counseling under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Deliver health care services such as immunizations and testing where permitted by regulation.
- Support the pharmacy manager in developing staff, identifying business opportunities, and maintaining workflow standards.
- Greet customers, perform register transactions, and assist with pharmacy and front-store inquiries.
- Participate in store meetings and communicate with management as required.
What you'll need#
- A Doctorate (PharmD) or equivalent degree from a non-US accredited school of pharmacy.
- An active Pharmacy Intern license in the state where the district is located.
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong communication, active listening, and emotional intelligence skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Physical ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs occasionally and 10 lbs frequently.
- Digital literacy, with preference given to those proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Eligibility to immunize is preferred.
