About the role#
As a foreign-educated pharmacy graduate, you will complete your required US internship hours to build upon your existing education. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for pharmacy practice. This role requires the successful completion of your internship within 18 months and obtaining pharmacist licensure within 120 days of finishing your required hours.
What you'll do#
- Ensure a safe and effective retail pharmacy work environment.
- Participate in patient safety, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and inventory management.
- Process prescriptions, including translating SIG codes, product selection, counting, capping, and labeling.
- Resolve third party rejections and complete manual claim forms.
- Deliver health care services such as point-of-care testing and immunizations.
- Counsel patients under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Support the pharmacy manager in motivating and developing pharmacy support staff.
- Greet customers, perform register transactions, and assist with drug orders.
- Identify business opportunities and lead your team to achieve specific goals.
What you'll need#
- Graduation from a non-US accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Successful completion of the FPGEE and TOEFL exams.
- An active pharmacy intern license in the state where the district is located.
- Strong communication, presentation, and active listening skills.
- Proficiency in results orientation, colleague engagement, and emotional intelligence.
- Ability to work a schedule that includes nights and weekends.
- Physical ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs of force occasionally and up to 10 lbs frequently.
