About the role#
This internship provides a structured path for foreign pharmacy graduates to complete required US internship hours. You will apply your academic training to real-world practice under the direction of a preceptor. The program is designed to prepare you for a pharmacist role through a mix of hands-on experience, training, and exposure to pharmacy operations. You are expected to complete your internship within 18 months.
What you'll do#
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation to ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Offer to counsel patients, field medical questions, and solicit information on patient medical history.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify prescriptions or facilitate medication changes.
- Perform inventory activities including cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and waiting bin inventories.
- Deliver patient health care services such as immunizations and point-of-care testing where allowed by law.
What you'll need#
- Graduation from a non-US accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- FPGEC certification.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Commitment to obtaining pharmacist licensure in the state of practice within 120 days of completing US intern hours.
