About the role#
As a Non-US Accredited Foreign Graduate, you will complete your required US internship hours to build upon your existing pharmacist education. This role is designed to develop your knowledge, skills, and abilities in a retail pharmacy environment. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to ensure safe and effective patient care. You must complete your internship within 18 months and obtain pharmacist licensure in Illinois within 120 days of completing your required hours.
What you'll do#
- Complete all required US internship hours and training programs.
- Process prescriptions, including translation of SIG codes, product selection, and labeling.
- Resolve third-party rejections and manage inventory according to company policies.
- Greet customers, assist with questions, and perform register transactions.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and federal and state regulations.
- Provide patient counseling under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Coordinate the training and development of pharmacy support staff.
- Deliver additional health care services as permitted by state regulation.
What you'll need#
- Doctorate (PharmD) or equivalent pharmacist degree from a non-US accredited school of pharmacy.
- Active pharmacy intern license in Illinois.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong communication, presentation, and active listening skills.
- Proficiency in emotional intelligence, time management, and digital literacy.
- Ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally.
- Ability to work a schedule that includes nights and weekends.
