About the role#
This internship provides a structured path for foreign-trained pharmacists to complete required US internship hours. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to gain experience in a retail pharmacy setting. The program is designed to build your knowledge and skills, preparing you to pass required licensure exams. You must complete all internship requirements within 18 months and obtain your pharmacist license within 120 days of finishing your hours.
What you'll do#
- Ensure a safe and effective retail pharmacy environment while maintaining regulatory compliance.
- Process prescriptions, including translating SIG codes, and manage pharmacy workflow.
- Resolve third-party rejections and handle manual claim forms.
- Assist with inventory management and perform prescription pick-up procedures.
- Provide patient counseling under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Adopt and manage patient care programs to support customer health.
- Support the pharmacy manager in motivating and developing support staff.
- Lead with empathy and compassion while identifying opportunities to improve pharmacy performance.
What you'll need#
- A Doctorate (PharmD) or equivalent degree from a non-US accredited school of pharmacy.
- An active Pharmacy Intern license in the state where the district is located.
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance, including working nights and weekends.
- Ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 10 lbs. frequently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
- Eligibility to immunize is preferred.
