About the role#
This internship program is designed for foreign pharmacy graduates to complete their required US internship hours and apply their education in a real-world setting. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to transition into a pharmacist role. The program requires completion of internship hours within 18 months, with the goal of obtaining pharmacist licensure in the state of practice within 120 days of finishing your hours.
What you'll do#
- Support pharmacy teams by following company standard operating procedures and workflow protocols at every workstation.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and care during interactions, whether in person, at the drive-thru, or over the phone.
- Offer immunizations and other health services to patients while maintaining accurate records.
- Counsel patients and field medical questions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and facilitate medication changes with prescribers.
- Perform basic inventory tasks such as cycle counts, processing returns, and managing medication deliveries.
- Complete Technician Immunizer training to assist with vaccine administration and monitor for potential adverse reactions.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and training to other pharmacy team members.
What you'll need#
- Graduation from a non-US accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- FPGEC certification.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Ability to complete all required training and internship hours within the designated timeframe.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Flexibility to work in your home store and travel to other locations within the market as needed.
