About the role#
As an International Pharmacy Intern, you will complete your required US internship hours to prepare for a career as a pharmacist. This role involves applying your pharmacy education to real-world practice under the direction of a preceptor. You will participate in a structured learning plan, gain hands-on experience in pharmacy operations, and develop leadership skills to support your team and improve patient care.
What you'll do#
- Follow company standard operating procedures and pharmacy workflow at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, fielding medical questions, and soliciting medical history.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and assist with medication changes where permitted.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities such as putting away deliveries, cycle counts, and returns.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, after completing Technician Immunizer status training.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, professional standards, and ethical principles.
What you'll need#
- Graduation from a non-US accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- FPGEC certification.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to obtain pharmacist licensure in Connecticut within 120 days of completing US intern hours.
- Capacity to complete the internship within 18 months.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks, pivot between duties, and confirm prescription accuracy.
- Strong verbal and written communication, active listening, and mathematical skills for solving pharmacy problems.
- Ability to identify challenging interactions and choose the best course of action.
- Physical ability to remain upright for extended periods, lift up to 20 lbs, reach overhead, stoop, and perform repetitive finger movements.
- Ability to maintain close visual acuity for reading and inspecting small parts.
